What does Vaxol contain?
Vaxol contains pharmaceutically purified olive oil with an addition of purified mineral oil. The viscosity of the olive oil is reduced by the addition of pharmaceutically purified mineral oil. This blend gives Vaxol its unique sprayability, which effectively distributes the oil evenly in the ear canal. The composition of the mineral oil also complements the olive oil to better dissolve earwax.
Olive oil manufactured according to pharmaceutical standards is purified and refined, meaning that odorants, allergens, etc., have been removed. It contains fatty acids whose unique properties make Vaxol naturally lubricating and effective.
The type of mineral oil found in Vaxol is pharmaceutically purified and approved for use in many different types of products. Vaxol has undergone the MDR* process and is approved, ensuring safe content and use.
There has been no change in the content of Vaxol since its launch in 2010, which means it is a well-proven product.

What makes Vaxol unique?
Vaxol has a patented spray bottle that effectively distributes the oil thinly and evenly in the ear canal, making the product easy to use.
During the development of Vaxol, it was discovered that the viscosity of pure olive oil prevented an even distribution when sprayed into the ear canal. By adding purified mineral oil, the viscosity of the olive oil is reduced, and this combination gives Vaxol its unique sprayability and enhances its effectiveness. The mineral oil has additional benefits as it also helps the olive oil to dissolve earwax.
Vaxol has a shelf life of 12 months after opening, which is unique among oil-based ear products.
How does Vaxol work?
Vaxol dissolves wax using the principle of “fat dissolves fat.” Accumulated earwax becomes more movable, and a wax plug is removed as it is gradually softened from the outside in. A wax plug can disappear on its own with treatment using Vaxol morning and evening for 4–5 days. If ear irrigation is still needed, the wax plug will usually be loose/soft in the ear and can be easily and gently flushed out by healthcare professionals.
How long is Vaxol effective after opening?
Vaxol is effective 12 months after opening
Why do the ears itch?
There are many reasons, but some are more common. Often the skin in the ear canal is dry and irritated.
One reason could be that the environment in the outer ear is affected by external factors, such as water, cotton swabs, or that you poked the ear a lot. The skin’s environment is disturbed and wax production may decrease, causing the skin to become dry. There can also be small cracks in the skin, which in turn can become irritated if they are exposed to bacteria. If water enters the ear, a moist environment is created that is favorable for bacteria.
Why should I use Vaxol?
Vaxol is a simple and effective way to soften earwax and remove it in a completely natural way. Reduces the need for ear irrigation and can facilitate ear irrigation when necessary. The unique dosing pump makes it easy to dose the right amount of Vaxol into the ear canal. To prevent new wax plugs, Vaxol can be used preventively. Vaxol also relieves irritation caused by dry skin in the ear canal.
How can I use Vaxol after a wax plug has disappeared?
With Vaxol, you can easily prevent recurring problems with wax plugs or excess earwax. Because Vaxol contains pharmaceutical purified olive oil, it is kind to the ear and helps the ear’s natural earwax process to work based on the principle “fat dissolves fat”. Dosage is then: spray 1-2 times per ear 1-2 times per week, or as needed.
Can a wax plug be prevented from forming?
The wax production in the ear is individual and is also affected by external factors. Some people have a higher risk of getting wax plugs because their ear canals are narrow, crooked or hairy.
Regardless of individual differences, you can reduce the risk of suffering from a wax plug by not disturbing the environment in the ear canal with e.g. cotton buds, headphones, hearing protection, etc. The production and natural removal of wax is then disrupted and an accumulation can occur – wax plug.
To prevent wax problems and maintain a healthy and clean environment in the ear, you can use Vaxol 1-2 times each week. Vaxol lubricates the skin in the ear canal and helps to soften and remove earwax.
Should one lie down, sit or stand when spraying with Vaxol?
We recommend sitting or standing when spraying Vaxol in the ear.
Do you need to use cotton wool or earplugs after spraying with Vaxol?
No, you spray into the ear and then it’s done. There is usually no discharge or discharge from the ear. Vaxol works inside the ear canal by spraying a small amount evenly and thinly on the skin in the ear canal. Adjust the number of sprays according to your needs.
How is Vaxol dosed?
Vaxol is dosed easily and conveniently in the ear canal using the spray function. You get an even distribution of the oil in the ear canal. Per spraying, you get a dose of approx. 0.05 ml, the same amount with each spraying.
To treat and soften wax plugs/earwax:
1-2 sprays, morning and evening for 4-5 days. Also works as a pre-treatment for ear washing.
To prevent wax plugs:
1-2 sprays, 1-2 times a week
To relieve itching and irritation in dry ear canals:
1-2 sprays, 1-2 times a week. Or if needed.
Why do wax plugs form?
Several factors increase the risk of earwax buildup:
- Overproduction of earwax.
- Ear canals that are narrow, constricted, crooked, or hairy.
- Poking in the ear canal, e.g., with cotton swabs or other objects.
- Use of hearing aids, headphones, ear protection, or earplugs.
- Dusty and dirty work environments or exposure to loud noise.
How many doses does the bottle contain?
About 180 doses – The bottle is overfilled, so you get the specified 10 ml, even if it cannot be completely emptied.
How do I clean the spray nozzle after use?
Detach the spray nozzle after use, clean it with a mild soapy solution, rinse thoroughly with water, dry and put it back on the bottle. The spray bottle should never be used without the spray nozzle in place!
Can I use Vaxol if I have a hearing aid?
Yes! Spray with Vaxol in the evening when you have taken out the hearing aid and let it work overnight. Wipe the outer ear before putting the hearing aid in place.
What are the symptoms of too much earwax?
Impaired hearing, covering of the ear, dizziness and pain.
Can I use Vaxol if I am pregnant?
There are no known side effects of using Vaxol during pregnancy or breastfeeding. However, we recommend that you inform your doctor before use.
What is MDR?
European authorities have identified a need to tighten regulations regarding medical devices. As a result, a new regulatory framework has been established within the EU, MDR (Medical Device Regulation).
MDR raises the standards for medical devices and ensures that the product is thoroughly tested and documented, aiming to reduce the risk of complications. The regulation also requires continuous monitoring and control of products to guarantee high quality and safety in use.
